Conformity.

Lately, I have been hearing more and more Christians giving rules, guidlines and suggestions to people as to how they should be. This is my number 1 least favorite thing about Christians. They say, "Oh, God loves you the way you are." but then they say "Well, to come to this you have to wear this, We dont use those words. dont you know that we dont do those things here? You really shouldnt look like that. Read these books. Dont shop here. Thats not how we look. We only listen to this. You should be looking to study this."
SHUT UP!
If, God loves me just the way I am then dont try to CHANGE me! My life is not some canvas, its not Build-A-Bear. I refuse to be stereotypical. Just because I dont like to look a certain way, or read certain things doesnt make me any less of a Christian that anyone else. Theres nothing wrong with me not desiring to be a foriegn missionary, I can be a light for Christ in my community. I dont HAVE to read biblical/spiritual books all the time. I dont have to only listen to Christian music. There is nothing wrong with the makeup I wear. I am not a bad example to children because of how I dress. I can still love and show the love of Christ even though I have a boyfriend.
I have a serious problem with Christians who say that God loves everyone and yet they wont even let someone who's gay enter their building. Or who, instead of getting to know a person the way they are, they try to change that person to fit the mold then they will get to know them.
Sorry guys, but I dont want to be like you. I am an individual. and if you are one of those people, before you say something, or make a "suggestion" or before you leave someone out, just think about this.
Think about how ignorent you look to the people who are watching what you are doing. Think about how much you are hurting the person you are trying to "suggest" something to. Think about if you were in that position and someone was just about to tell you that you dont look enough like everyone else so you dont belong here. How much would that hurt you? Or if you were unsaved, why in the WORLD would you want to be like these judmental, unaccepting, hypocritical people?
You wouldn't.
So my philosphy, I will not conform. I will be myself, because I know what I believe and I want to love people, not change them. I want people to want to be like me because I'm different, I want unsaved people to notice something different, but not abrasive, or scary, or judgemental.
I want then to see the deep passion I have for them to know this awesome Creator and loving Father who, even though I am dirt, He loves me.
Just Something to think about.

Thinking Pink. Thinking Mom. Thanking God.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month. To some people this is the month to wear pink, to some companies this is a time to turn every product pink to sell more, to some its a time to donate, to some its a time to fund raise. But for me, and for many others, its a time to remember.
Although, I am one of the fortunate few who have something good to remember.
My mom was first diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer when I was in 4th grade. I remember hearing about it and freezing. Not knowing what to say or think. But because the cancer was not serious  it was easily taken care of. And we were out of the woods. Or so we thought.
Everything was fine until around this time my freshman year. The cancer had come back, with a vengeance. Many months passed and my mom had her surgery in February, it was the Homecoming game for basketball, so it was spirit week. My friends and teachers came together to show me support the day before the surgery. And one of my closest friends came with me to Ann Arbor the day of the surgery just to be there.
My mom had both breast removed and the cancer was/is gone.
That is my memory,
And everyday, I thank God that I have that memory.
So in light of "Think Pink" "Dig for a Cure" "There is Hope" and "Save the TaTas"
I want you to really think, and remember what those things mean. and that there are ACTUAL people in mind for these slogans. They actually mean things. More than you think.
